Step into the heart of the Australian Outback on an unforgettable mineral-collecting expedition across some of the most legendary opal and geological regions on Earth.
This once-in-a-lifetime journey begins in Adelaide, where we’ll gather as a small, tight-knit group before heading north into the vast red landscapes of South Australia. From there, we’ll travel deep into the Outback, following historic tracks and remote routes toward Oodnadatta, stopping along the way to explore classic collecting localities known to serious rockhounds and lapidaries alike.
Throughout this expedition, participants will have the opportunity to collect:

Seam opal
Matrix opal
Andamooka opal
Selenite
Nodules
Iron concretions
And other unique Outback mineral specimens

This is a hands-on collecting experience designed for those who want to dig, explore, learn, and connect with the land. You’ll walk ancient desert ground, uncover raw Australian opal in its natural setting, and gain a deeper appreciation for the geology, history, and extreme beauty of the Outback.
We will have the tools you need! You can bring what you would like but we will have them.
