This Australia mining tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime journey that begins in Adelaide, where we will gather as a small, tight-knit group before heading north into the vast red landscapes of South Australia. From there, we’ll travel deep into the Outback, following historic tracks and remote routes toward Oodnadatta, stopping along the way to explore classic collecting localities cherished by serious rockhounds and lapidaries alike.

Throughout this expedition, participants will have the opportunity to collect:

- Seam opal

- Matrix opal

- Andamooka opal

- Selenite

- Nodules

- Iron concretions

- And other unique Outback mineral specimens

This is a hands-on rock hounding experience designed for those who want to dig, explore, learn, and connect with the land. You’ll walk ancient desert ground, uncover raw Australian opal in its natural setting, and gain a deeper appreciation for the geology, history, and extreme beauty of the Outback. We will provide all the necessary tools, although you can bring your own if you prefer.
